The Sant Jordi Sports Palace was designed as one of the sports facilities to be used for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. The Sports Palace is covered by a space frame roof of 128m x 106m having the height of 45m from the arena floor to the rooftop. The space frame of the roof structure was assembled on the ground level, and erected by means of the Pantadome system. The roof structure has six hinges in a section, appearing as if it were unstable. In fact, the structure is sufficiently stable due to three-dimensional stabilizing effect.
