The original Bullring of Xativa was constructed in 1917 on the design of Demetrio Ribes, a famous Spanish modernistic architect. In view of deterioration of the building at the age of some 90 years, it was decided to renovate the structure. The renovation works included enlargement of the grandstand and provision of the roof which is partly retractable, keeping the good atmosphere of early modernism by Ribes’ design. The roof covers the area of 101.6m in diameter and is supported by 44 columns, arranged along the periphery of the grandstand having the diameter of 86.2m. A new Pantadome System which does not need any temporary support in the erection of the roof was applied to the roof structure.
